More than 40 airports partner or expand with FlightView in 2013

03/12/2014

BOSTON [March 12, 2014] — Airports across the world rapidly increased adoption of FlightView's real-time flight information services in 2013. In fact, FlightView added or expanded with more than 40 airports last year, and can now be found in more than 150 airports worldwide. New customers include Indianapolis International Airport (IND), Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and Curacao International Airport. Partnerships expansions include Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG), Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Tucson International Airport (TUS).

"While travel technology and airline regulations will continue to evolve, one thing will never change: the criticality of reliable and actionable flight information to airports and travelers," said Mike Benjamin, CEO of FlightView, the day-of-travel information company. "We continue to see airports - both here and internationally - prioritize flight information as a key ingredient to successful operational and customer experience strategies."

FlightView invested heavily in 2013 to expand its market-leading data, and has become the go-to source for day-of-travel information for airports, airlines, travel companies and consumers.  Today, FlightView tracks more than 280 million flights per month, and provides data to three out of the four largest airports in the U.S., and threee out of five best U.S. airports, as rated by the 2013 World Airport Awards.  New airport projects in 2013 include:

  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO) had relied on FlightView’s data to power its backend operations for five years. This year, SFO expanded its partnership and is now leveraging FlightView for all of the airport’s customer-facing channels, including web content, mobile content, social media and terminal displays.
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Curacao International Airport (CUR) are two of the first airports to adopt Flight-In-Sight, the industry’s first gate information display content to visually show passengers where their plane is located when it’s not at the end of the jetway. This innovation enables travelers to see exactly where their plane is located and how soon it's likely to arrive -- without having to rely on sporadically updated departure times provided by airlines and gate agents.
  • Lea County Regional (HOB) is a small airport with a limited amount of direct routes.  To increase customer service and keep travelers informed, Hobbs Airport uses FlightView to display that delays, cancellations and statuses for flights at the major hub, Houston George Bush Airport, that Hobbs travelers are likely to connect through.

"CLE has had FlightView's data in the terminal for several years but have more recently added it to our website, ensuring that our travelers will get accurate and consistent information no matter where they turn," said Todd Payne, Chief Marketing and Air Service Development at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
